Club
Cruise to Surf City Garage
Saturday, May 16th, 2009
The club cruised to the Surf City Garage in Huntington Beach for
a private tour arranged by Jerry Dominguez. Surf City Garage
produces a high end line of car care products that are sold in
auto stores. Pep Boys is one outlet where their products are
sold. The owner of the company, Tim Miller also owns a very
large collection of '50's and '60's muscle cars. I believe his
total collection is over 120 cars of which about 60 were on
display at the facility we visited. We were met by Tim's
daughter, Carrie Miller who is the v.p. of operations for the
company. The facility has a very impressive entry lobby with a
pool and waterfall. Then we entered into a '50's diner with
several cars on display. Then into the main room which is not
only loaded with an impressive lineup of muscle cars but is also
loaded with original neon signage as well as lot of other
memorabilia such as gas pumps, coke machines and metal signs.
Then outside the main display area is another 20 or so cars on
display.
The excellent photos below (click on any photo for an
enlargement) were taken by Doug Morris.
The cruise consisted of the following club
members: Tom and Bev Glavas, Dale and Penny Anderson, Bill
Barger and Jill Epson along with Bill's son and daughter-in-law,
Jim Cavin, Jim Davis and David Berg, Jerry and Donna Dominguez,
Terry and Karen Kollar, Doug and Dietta Morris and Bob and
Gretchen Taylor.
If you didn't make it, you missed a terrific
tour as Doug's photos attest.
